World Microbiome Day on the 27th of June is approaching and this year it is all about ‘Diversity’! Everyone is invited to join the celebrations around the vibrant world of microbes, the diversity of microbial habitats and the foods microbes (and we need to) eat, the diversity among microbiome researchers and research areas that focus on microbiology. All curious people can participate in the dialogue on the contribution of microbes to our food system and human and planetary health. The World Microbiome Day will host competitions, for young and old, such as microbe drawings, sourdough bread and photography competitions! Find out more about the competitions and the prizes you can win on the World Microbiome Day website. We also want to invite all microbe lovers to take part in our social media campaign and become a #MicrobiomeAmbassdor. You are wondering how you can participate? Get more information here. If you plan to organise an event, please keep in mind potential restrictions due to Covid-19. We therefore encourage you to plan online activities.

The consortium is planning to actively raise awareness on the importance of microbes on 27th June 2020 via a social media campaign in collaboration with the World Microbiome Day organisers. Follow us on Twitter @MicrobiomeEU to find out how we are contributing to the day, as well as @EUFIC‘s and @WMicrobiomeDay‘s Twitter, Facebook and Instagram channels.
